Unemployment around the state has spiraled to rival the highest rates of joblessness reported inside the United States over the last financial quarter, and the market tidings look to grow even more grim as the economy of Georgia struggles to right the course after the lingering effects of recession.  The effects upon the average citizen of Georgia shall always seem the most heartbreaking, and, at a time like this, steadily increasing credit card debt loads serve as a real threat to even those households that had never before run into trouble with debt relief matters.

As one example, Ann and Raymond Bogarde have lived around the metropolitan Atlanta area for their entire lives – the last thirty five of their sixty two years spent within a cozy split level domicile on the edges of the West End area of Atlanta– and, throughout, he had been earning a comfortable (though hardly extravagant) salary as part of the Pepsi Cola corporation, lately working at the office of the mammoth Gatorade bottling plant.  Though Raymond had originally intended to retire this year, rising costs of living and the unexpected price tag of some minor medical procedures at the Grady Memorial Hospital had convinced him to stay on a part time basis for an open ended duration.

Unfortunately, the slipping sales figures and sizable costs of daily operation that the plant requires – as the single largest drain upon water usage for all of greater Atlanta, the day to day expense of business is considerable – ran counter to Pepsi executives own plans for corporate debt relief in Georgia.  As the forced work furloughs increased in number for all employees, Raymond’s position was eventually eliminated, and he accepted a resignation with full benefits.

The funds dispensed as part of the formal retirement package, however, proved to be less than the Bogardes would need to support their budget, especially once Ann’s health began to fail.  They found themselves helplessly relying upon revolving credit card debt lines, and, as accounts neared their spending limits and the regular billing statements grew to frightening monetary levels, the Georgians were forced to consider their options for debt relief in order to avoid bankruptcy protection and perhaps even foreclosure.

Over the last half century, however, the Bogardes had done everything they could to steer clear of pointless credit card debt.  In the strictly religious farming community near Americus, Georgia where the lifelong couple were raised, credit cards were severely frowned upon, preferring to use cash whenever possible, and, in fact, Raymond could not recall his extended family ever taking advantage of either secured or unsecured lines of credit.

As consequence, when the family was suddenly denied a credit card debt relief consolidation loan from their local One Georgia Bank chapter, it came as a complete surprise to learn that their earlier refusal to borrow sums had resulted in credit scores too low to initially qualify for any credit card debt relief.  In the nick of time, Raymond managed to enter debt settlement negotiation and reduce the outstanding sums to a more workable figure, but, just in case they ever need depend upon the assistance of credit card debts again, they now make certain to utilize their debt accounts a bit each day for the most aspirational credit bureau ratings.
